Liquid Color is a non-resin based color concentrate that is positioned at the high end of the market in regards to quality and price. Liquid color is a cost effective alternative to color concentrates, pigment and pre-colored materials. It can be used in nearly all plastic resins and in almost every type of plastics processing machine. The primary advantages of using liquid color are economics and dispersion. Higher loadings coupled with superior dispersion mean color usages are generally well below that of other coloring alternatives. This makes liquid color less expensive.
The following is the simple introduction about it:
Lower Usage Rates |
Liquid color has significantly higher pigment loadings allowing lower usage rates. Liquid typically runs at usage rates of .50% to 1.50%, compared to concentrate which is at 3.00% to 5.00%. |
Quick Color Changes |
The only contaminated material is in the barrel of the molding machine. You merely remove one tube set and replace with another to complete the color change. |
Accurate Color Delivery- |
The pump used to deliver liquid color is accurate to within 1.0% of the programmed output. |
Wide Range of Resin Usage |
Liquid colorants can be formulated to work in all resins. Olefins, Styrenics, Engineering Resins, and Thermosets. |
Inventory Optimization |
Liquid colorant uses much less space for storage. A 30 gal. drum is the equivalent of a gaylord of concentrate. Thus 4 drums of liquid would take up the same amount of space as a gaylord. |
Precise Color Control |
Because liquid colorant is produced in one large batch, the color is consistent throughout the entire mixture. Also, the liquid has under gone NO heat history, thus the pigments are only subject to high heat once, at the time of molding into the finished part. |
